Brief Description

Introduction

The main idea is to provide as many opportunities and hands-on experience to the wide range of audiences attending IndiaFOSS 3.0. To achieve this, we have decided to have 4 parallel activities at our stall, to engage individuals with different interests. Our stall will include technical and non-technical activities, for students as well as working professionals.

Idea No: 1

Capture the Flag

Description:

This is a fun game in which participants attempt to find text strings, images, ciphers, etc, called "flags", which are secretly hidden in purposefully-vulnerable programs or websites. These flags will help them to cover various levels and reach the end of the game.

  1. After registration, the participants will be briefed about the rules, objectives, and the concept of finding "flags".
  2. Participants will then have to explore and analyze the software, looking for hidden flags. To find the flags, they may need to exploit vulnerabilities, solve puzzles, reverse-engineer code, or use other hacking techniques.
  3. The difficulty typically increases as they move forward, requiring more advanced skills and knowledge.
  4. Upon successful completion of the game, the participants will receive chocolates.

Value Provision:

  1. Skills Development: Participants gain hands-on experience in identifying vulnerabilities and securing systems.
  2. Problem-Solving: The game requires participants to think critically, solve puzzles, and use creative problem-solving techniques.
  3. Risk-Free Environment: Participants can experiment and make mistakes in a controlled environment, enhancing their learning without causing harm.

Estimated time per participant: 10-15 minutes

Possible requirements/expenses: Laptops, Wi-Fi, chocolates
