Technical documentation in regional languages

The proposal is for a 10 min talk on the need for having technical documentation in regional languages and how we can go about translating documentation to regional languages. Below is a brief summary of points covered in the talk:

  1. English is not first language for many Indians.
  2. Technical documentation is in English and don't have a translation in regional langauges.
  3. Project documentation contains detailed information which cannot be found in other sources.
  4. Translating technical documentation in regional languages makes the knowledge accessible to more number of people.
  5. More Indians can build better software as it breaks language barrier required to build good software.
  6. Translation is hard - requires bandwidth, focused effort. The way to go around is docathons and community efforts.
