This talk tells the story of Free and Open Source Software in Goa, a tiny part of the region which made its dent nonetheless and performed credibly in promoting this sector.

  1. This talk will focus on the 'story' of GNU/Linux in Goa, through photos.
  2. Its story goes back to circa 1998, when things begin.
  3. Starting with the ILUG-Goa and then the FSUG-Goa.
  4. What works and doesn't work.
  5. Tips for other wannabee groups that would like to try such initiatives for their own.
