Integrating wavpack audio support into Audacity
Audacity is a popular Free and Open-Source audio editor and recorder used by millions worldwide. We all know that audio is described as any sound or noise in a range the human ear can hear. But how are they represented digitally? How do computers store the physical information in audio files? and lastly why and what types of compression techniques are used for audio?
In this talk, I will address the above questions and also share my experience and learnings from making a significant contribution to Audacity, enabling millions of users to directly use wavpack audio files with it. Additionally, I will discuss the wavpack audio compression format itself and how it approaches a unique way to compress audio.
