Understanding Mentorships in Open Source
Title: Understanding Mentorships in Open Source
Overview:
Mentorship in tech, especially in Open Source is of utmost importance for a lot of beginners in the field. With the right support, it becomes easy to scale the basic topics quickly and move to meaningful contributions without burning out in the learning stage.
Having mentored students, professionals and even folks not in tech for over 6 years, I will be sharing my understanding of mentorship in open source and how to make the best of it both from the perspective of the mentor and the mentee.
The session will be in a format of a story covering my journey with FossFlow through which I have mentored 400+ students in their preparation for Google Summer of Code and similar programs.
