OpenTelemetry: Why and How?

In this talk, we will demystify OpenTelemetry, an open-source project designed to standardize the collection of telemetry data from various applications and systems. As software architectures grow more complex and distributed, the need for effective observability becomes paramount. OpenTelemetry provides the tools and framework to achieve real-time insights into the performance and behavior of your applications.

Since I led the integration of OpenTelemetry at my organization I am aware of the organizational challenges it spurs up and the correct way to get out of the same.

Key takeaways from this talk:

  1. Understand the importance of observability in modern application development.
  2. Discover the features and benefits of OpenTelemetry for distributed tracing, metrics, and logging.
  3. Gain practical knowledge of integrating OpenTelemetry into your applications.
  4. Learn how to leverage telemetry data to diagnose and resolve performance issues effectively.
  5. Explore real-world case studies showcasing successful OpenTelemetry implementations.
