Home Lab Setup: A 10-Year Journey in Home Networking, Storage, and Virtualization
Check Reference
I embarked on setting up my homelab approximately in 2013. It all began when I flashed an Archer C2 with OpenWrt and used it as an access point. As my requirements grew, I continued to expand my setup by adding a firewall, network-wide AdBlock, storage/NAS, a hypervisor, and power backup for me and my family.
Over the years, I have relied on OpenWrt as my firewall, FreeNAS (now TrueNAS) for storage, and Proxmox as my hypervisor. I extensively tested and evaluated various other software solutions before settling on these choices for my daily use.
I will share my experiences, detailing what has worked effectively, what hasn't, and the pros and cons of homelab setup using only with BSNL.
