In Open Source or FOSS communities the representation of voices in various roles need to involve a  good balance of participation of all. It is necessary to build a strong community with people of all genders, learning backgrounds and skill to involve and contribute in the Open Source projects equally. In this talk I would bring about the various common underlying challenges that hinder participation and contribution in unstructured organisations or communities. The factors that affect the same and how to approach these issues inorder to build a healthy representation of Diversity and Inclusion would be discussed in this talk. I would also discuss my observations and recommendations from my previous research works with Mozilla and Wikimedia communities in India. Also how the programs and initiatives focussed on specific gender groups could enhance better participation and can create safe space for more volunteers to join the drive in Open Source communities.
